Greater Miami Jewish Federation
Touching Jewish Lives. Building Jewish Community.

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation exists to ensure that we act collectively and responsibly to meet the needs and safeguard the freedoms of all Jewish people. For 70 years, the Federation has worked to build our community and enrich the quality of Jewish life in the Greater Miami area. Governed by a committed and dynamic volunteer Board of Directors, the Federation brings together the people, services, resources and leadership necessary to secure a strong and vibrant Jewish community for generations to come.

Miami’s Jewish community is one of the most culturally diverse in the U.S. From Aventura in the north to Homestead in the south, Dade county’s 70 synagogues, 16 day schools, three Jewish Community Centers and many Jewish agencies celebrate the richness of our religious and cultural life.

The Greater Miami Jewish Federation reaches all segments of our unique local population by advancing Jewish continuity while supporting a broad range of vital human services at home and abroad.

The Federation/United Jewish Appeal Campaign

Each year, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Annual Campaign raises more than $23 million to provide vital social services through 40 local beneficiary agencies and programs as well as programs in Israel and overseas. Locally, the Federation supported agencies provide hot meals to homebound elderly and guide the education of youngsters from pre-school through high school graduation. The Federation supports resettlement services for newly arrived immigrants and underwrites social, cultural and educational programming at local Jewish Community Centers.

The Federation also supports social service agencies in Israel and in Jewish communities around the globe through its overseas partners, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) and the Jewish Agency for Israel (JAFI).

There are many ways to get involved. No matter who you are, where you are or what you like to do, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation provides an opportunity for you to get involved in your Jewish community.

Women's Department

The Women’s Department of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation works to enhance Jewish life through fundraising, education and leadership development programs. It supports the Federation’s mission while motivating women to devote their time and financial resources to the local, national and international Jewish communities.

Acting through its Board of Directors, the Women’s Department plans and implements programs, incorporating the creative ideas of its constituents in Miami Beach, Central, Northeast, and Southwest Miami-Dade. These programs are designed to increase awareness and participation of women in the Greater Miami Jewish Federation.

As a volunteer group with a distinct constituency - women who choose to identify with the Jewish community - the Women’s Department offers a unique opportunity to enhance and support Jewish life. By perpetuating the ideals and values of our Jewish heritage and tradition, the Women’s Department encourages women to become more deeply committed to the Jewish community.

Women’s Department advocates for issues that define the unique role women play in contributing to Jewish enrichment, Jewish survival and women’s concerns. The women associated with the Women’s Department accept the responsibility to participate in the Jewish concept of tikkun olam - repairing the world - and maintaining the powerful tradition of tzedakah.
