TOUR | Early Christianity's Jewish Roots

Presented by Gadi Ben-Dov

The Land of Israel is holy to Jews and Christians alike, but few realize just how rooted early Christianity was in Jewish practice. Journey with Israeli guide, Gadi Ben-Dov, to the northwest corner of the Kinneret (Sea of Galilee). This was the home to Jesus of Nazareth during his formative years, but it was also a hub of Jewish life as the center of the local fishing industry. Together we'll visit the Christian holy sites of Capernaum (Kfar Nahum) and Magdala (Migdal) where we'll discover the Jewish archeology in this area, and how closely it ties to early Christian sites nearby.

COOKING | Knafeh – The Queen of Arab Desserts

Crispy shredded phyllo dough. Molten cheese. Butter. Sugar syrup. Pistachios. These are the elements of knafeh, a delicious Middle Eastern dessert with numerous regional variations, though, it’s origins can be found in the Palestinian city of Nablus. These days in Israel, knafeh is all the rage, with dozens of knafeh joints in Tel Aviv alone. There’s even a knafeh delivery service! Luckily, with fairly simple ingredients, you can make a delicious knafeh at home in a short period of time. Ingredient list provided if you plan to cook along!

You'll learn just how easy it is to grow your own, and a bit of Jewish wisdom about our relationship to the earth. All you'll need is some of your favorite vegetable seeds, a seed starting tray or egg carton, and seed starting soil mix. We'll provide the tips you need for growing success!
