Announcing: UM Hillel Wins Outstanding Campus Award!

We are thrilled to announce that last week at the Hillel International Global Assembly, University of Miami Hillel was awarded the prestigious 2018 Philip H. and Susan Rudd Cohen Outstanding Campus Award.

This top campus award honors a Hillel that demonstrates excellence in strategically engaging students on the periphery of Jewish Life.

Among the many accomplishments in the past few years, the highlights of UM Hillel’s work include:
• Retaining an outstanding team of professionals, who work in partnership with an exemplary cohort of lay leaders, UM Hillel’s Board of Directors.
• UM Hillel became the largest provider for Birthright Israel and Onward Israel in Miami Dade, sending over 120 students annually.
• UM Hillel sent the largest AIPAC student delegation in 2018, and continues to recruit to send even more students in 2019.
• In less than a year we are on track to triple the number of students to 60 per year who attend the Jewish Learning Fellowship, 10-week learning seminars taught by Hillel staff.
• UM Hillel’s intentional efforts to work with Jewish Latino students as part of our national partnership with The David Project and American Jewish Committee, which resulted in hosting Jewish Latino Summit and three Alternative Spring Breaks to Cuba, Brazil, and Argentina.
• UM Hillel introduced kosher meals as part of the University of Miami meal plan in 2018 by opening the highly sought after restaurant, Pura Vida, at the Braman Miller Center for Jewish Student Life.
• Interfaith work on campus culminating in the first ever interfaith conference held on a college campus, which took place at UM Hillel in October.
• Base Miami became an integral part of the Jewish landscape of millennial engagement in the Brickell area. UM Hillel’s initiative to offer pluralistic Jewish life to the 20 and 30-year-old’s residing in Miami.
• UM Hillel successfully passed an independent financial audit in 2016, and 2018.
• We were selected to be part of the second cohort of the Organizational Design Lab; a creative think-tank to help us explore new and dynamic ways to reach even more Jewish students on the periphery.
• Read more about our work in our 2018 Impact Report.
In the months (and years) to come, we are certain that prestigious 2018 Philip H. and Susan Rudd Cohen Outstanding Campus Award will help elevate our work on campus as we strive to reach new heights.

We are very humbled by the support we have received from our community: alumni, parents and local community leaders. We deeply appreciate your guidance and commitment!

Your generosity inspires us to work very hard to ensure you see return on your investment, and UM Hillel achieves its mission of inspiring every Jewish student to make an enduring commitment to Jewish Life, Learning and Israel.

From strength to strength and Mazal Tov to all Jewish ‘Canes!
