Governor Scott's performance measures for the Department of Elder Affairs and the Area Agencies on Aging for the State of Florida were just released, and PSA 11 (the Alliance for Aging, Inc.) is still number one in these rankings. The Alliance for Aging is the Area Agency on Aging for Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties, one of eleven Area Agencies in the State. The Alliance and its network of service providers, including JCS among others, make possible the prevention of 60,000 months of nursing home care, a savings to the tax payers of at least $240 million. The Alliance for Aging manages over $65 million of programs with only 2.7 percent used for administrative expenses. Some of the services that the Alliance for Aging’s network provides include 1.92 million meals served in senior centers and other facilities where elders congregate to socialize; 1.86 million meals delivered to home-bound elders; 1.3 million hours of in-home services such as personal care and homemaking to impaired elders who need assistance and 450,000 trips to elders needing transportation services.
