The current economic downturn has affected people across the Jewish community, both in Miami and worldwide. People who never dreamed they would need to ask for help have suddenly found themselves having to seek assistance with even the most basic necessities. People who were already living on the edge are in even deeper trouble.
As a result, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and our family of social-service agencies have seen dramatic rises in the number of requests for Jewish Day School scholarships, food, medication and living assistance, employment and emotional counseling, emergency financial aid and much more.
In fact, today, 1 in 8 people in Miami’s Jewish community depends on the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and our local Partner Agencies for some form of financial assistance.
