Gift of Israel Savings Program
(Formerly Passport to Israel)

The average cost for a four-week trip to Israel is nearly $8,000 and even with scholarships, most organized teen travel plans still cost more than $6,000!

Begin saving for your child's Israel experience at an early age and receive matching funds from Federation!

Give Your Child the Gift of Israel

Studies show that an educational experience in Israel can have a transformative effect on a young adult. But for many families, a trip to Israel may seem financially beyond reach. That is why the Greater Miami Jewish Federation and participating synagogues established the Gift of Israel Savings Program, formerly known as Passport to Israel, in 1993.

How It Works

The Gift of Israel Savings Program enables families to begin saving early for their child’s Israel experience – and enjoy the benefit of matching-dollar grants from community sources.

After you enroll your child, you and your synagogue will each make annual contributions of $100 to your child’s Gift of Israel Savings Program account. The Greater Miami Jewish Federation will contribute an additional $100 into your child’s account each year. Families deposit $100 a year for 10 years (1st through 10th grade). In addition, family members and friends can make contributions to each child’s account, a perfect Bar/Bat Mitzvah gift. Additional contributions are not matched.

When your child is ready to take his or her trip to Israel, you will have a sizable savings, including interest accrued, to help underwrite the cost.

Who Can Participate?

Any Miami-Dade County resident who is a member in good standing of a participating Miami-Dade County congregation or institution enrolled in grades 1-10, with at least one parent who is Jewish. If the family is not a member of a participating Miami-Dade congregation or institution, they may still participate and receive a match from Federation.
