Dietary laws will be observed. Ayanot is one of two agricultural boarding schools serving over 1,000 students. Located near Ness Ziona, it is a four year co-educational boarding school that draw its students from the major educational and rehabilitation agencies in Israel for new immigrants and disadvantaged youth. A new theatre complex has just been completed for the fine arts program which contains the latest in audio-visual equipment. The theatre is a training ground for students interested in dramatic arts, music, and dance, and is available to the surrounding community for rental as well.
The school day is divided into two parts. The morning hours are devoted to academic studies conducted in a classroom setting. In the afternoon, students acquire practical experience in such subjects as animal husbandry and botany by working in the extensive facilities provided by the school. These include nurseries, orange groves, machine shops, granaries, vegetable lots, cowsheds and greenhouses. To meet the needs of today's technological society, computer courses are also offered.
Students are accommodated in comfortable dormitories. Every attempt is made to create a warm, informal family atmosphere. Housemothers and teachers stay with their young charges long past the regular school day. Student self-government provides further training for life in Israel's democratic society.
(OR AND MAZAL CHAPTERS in S. Florida are 90% Latin Americans.)
