PURVIS YOUNG: Dreams and Disillusions

The Japour Family Collection and Temple Emanu El present Miami’s own Purvis Young. On view will be Young’s works which tell the stories of a struggle against a decaying establishment and his positive, celebratory triumph over devastating urban poverty. Purvis painted on raw, disintegrating materials characterizing the issues of racism and social themes of his time that are just as relevant today.

Opening reception: Wednesday, December 4 from 6pm - 10pm

Thursday, December 5: 10 AM - 7 PM

Friday, December 6 10 AM - 5 PM

Friday December 6: Join us for shabbat services at 7:00 followed by a reception from 8-9 PM

Sunday, December 8: 11 AM - 5 PM

Free and open to the public
