As the Holocaust Documentation & Education Center continues to feature and offer a wide variety of topics on the Holocaust, today we are adding the following to our list from The Holocaust Teacher Institute at the University of Miami as part of The Leslie and Susan Gonda (Goldschmied) Foundation Holocaust/Jewish Themed Sunday Salon Series:

Program: “Myths of the Holocaust – What is True – What is Not?”

Guest Presenter: Dr. William Meinecke, Jr., Historian at United States Holocaust Memorial Museum.

Dr. William Frederick Meinecke, Jr. joined the staff of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in Washington, DC in 1992. He was on the original design team of the Museum’s Wexner Center’s multi-media program on the Holocaust and the Student Learning website. In June 2000, William joined the staff of the Museum’s Education Division. His book, “Nazi Ideology of the Holocaust” was published by the Museum in December, 2007.

For the last ten years, Dr. Meinecke has been invited to share his expertise in numerous venues in both the US and abroad and has specialized in Holocaust seminars working with law enforcement officers, judges, prosecutors and attorneys on the subject of “Holocaust History and the Law.” Dr. Meinecke’s academic credentials includes grants to study German history at the Universities of Bonn and Berlin, Germany, Holocaust history at Yad Vashem in Israel and he was awarded a PhD in History from the University of Maryland, College Park.

He is currently working in the Museum’s Levine Institute for Holocaust Education where he specializes in Holocaust education for adult professionals as well as serving as a historian for broader Museum educational projects. For this presentation, Dr. Meinecke will discuss “Myths of the Holocaust – What is True – What is Not.”
