This past year, Federation and our overseas partner, The Jewish Agency for Israel, helped nearly 100 at-risk preteens and adolescents through community-based mentoring in Miami’s partnership city of Yerucham. Youth Futures, a Jewish Agency flagship program, trains local mentors to work as trusted guides and help students improve school performance, strengthen social integration and inspire community engagement. The mentors also connect youth, families and communities with services and local resources to help them overcome barriers to success. Read more.

Through our partner agency, Jewish Community Services of South Florida (JCS), and generous contributions to the Annual Federation/UJA Campaign, hundreds of underserved and at-risk families in Miami, in addition to many Holocaust survivors, have access to the JCS Kosher Food Bank. Shoppers can choose from a variety of non-perishable staples, canned goods, fresh produce, meat and frozen items. Each person receives a private appointment to ensure privacy and confidentiality, and they leave with their groceries packed in regular shopping bags. Read more.

The documentary film explores Israeli singer-songwriter David Broza’s 2013 album of the same name, which he spent eight days recording in East Jerusalem.
