The Jewish Volunteer Center (JVC) of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation has emerged as a lifeline for thousands of Miami residents whose lives have been disrupted by the current COVID-19 pandemic.

Working on the frontline to distribute essential items to those most affected in our community, they are our volunteer heroes in action. Click here to watch how they are providing help and hope to those who need it most. Read more.

In the wake of the coronavirus crisis, Federation is not only providing much needed assistance in Miami, but is also supporting Israeli organizations experiencing increased hardship due to the pandemic.

Emergency grants were given to 13 agencies facing heightened demands due to rising COVID-19 cases. Your donations to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign include support for those facing food insufficiency. Through Leket Israel and The Jaffa Institute, two of the 13 organizations that received COVID-19 related funds, Israel's most vulnerable are receiving help. Read more.

Long before COVID-19 caused widespread unemployment, food insufficiency and financial strain, Federation offered a social service safety net to our most vulnerable populations.
Now, in the midst of the pandemic, Federation is still providing critically needed help. When the coronavirus crisis began, Federation quickly sprang into action and created a $1.1 million fund to provide emergency grants of up to $1,500 to pay essential bills on behalf of individuals and families impacted by the pandemic and interest-free loans of up to $3,000 through our Hebrew Free Loan Association of Miami (HFLA). To date, more than $556,000 has been distributed in grants and loans to 325 people, representing more than an eight-fold increase in financial assistance provided by Federation, both through emergency grants and through HFLA. This is exactly why Federation exists. If you are in the position to help, please consider making a donation here.
Last week, the three residents of Moishe House Brickell enjoyed an evening of community with a virtual mezuzah hanging at their new home.
Friends and family, including Federation leaders and Moishe House Founder and CEO David Cygielman, gathered by Zoom as Rabbi Adam Gindea of Base Miami officially blessed the home. Funded by your donations to the Annual Campaign and the generosity of supplemental campaign donations, the houses are led by groups of young adults who receive a rent subsidy and programming budget in exchange for creating meaningful Jewish experiences for young adults. Opened in December 2019, Moishe House Brickell joined the already thriving Moishe House Midtown and Moishe House Aventura. Last year, the houses hosted nearly 200 unique programs for more than 3,000 participants. Since the pandemic, the houses have pivoted to virtual gatherings. As Miami-Dade County once again faces a spike in coronavirus cases, Federation continues to bring the Jewish community to you.
