Need-based scholarship applications are now being accepted for Jewish overnight summer camp next summer. Federation recognizes that children with pivotal Jewish summer camp experiences are more likely to become adults who value their Jewish heritage, support Jewish causes and take on leadership roles in their communities. For this reason, Federation's Annual Campaign helps make camp more accessible to Miami-Dade families. Last year, nearly 200 scholarships were awarded to recipients attending summer camps across the U.S. and spanning different denominations of Judaism. For more information and to apply, click here. Applications are due by January 31, 2018.

Nearly 700 Venezuelan Jews attended the first-ever Limmud Caracas this past Sunday. Sponsored in part by Federation's overseas partner, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, the festival featured more than 30 sessions aimed at deepening participants' connections to their Jewish identity, offering Israeli films, cooking, art, Yiddish, tzedakah projects and more. Despite the ongoing political upheaval, Limmud Caracas created a sense of joy and spiritual fulfillment to the dwindling Jewish community in Venezuela.

Miami and Yerucham's Jewish teens are benefiting from Federation’s Miami-Yerucham Partnership through HaZamir, two of the more than 38 chapters across the U.S. and Israel that are part of the network of the International Jewish Teen Choir. The prestigious, global musical group offers teens a rare and valuable pluralistic opportunity to form close bonds with their peers as they unite through music. The Miami chapter, led by Dr. Alan Mason, meets weekly at the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center, a Federation partner agency, communicating and rehearsing with their sister chapter in Yerucham via Skype.
