FRIDAY, JUNE 2 | 8 SIVAN

Please join us next Wednesday, June 7, at the 79th Annual Meeting of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. We’ll gather for a luncheon at Jungle Island to honor five exceptional Jewish leaders for their commitment to Jewish life and community. Adam Lustig and Elizabeth Schwartz will be presented with the Stanley C. Myers Presidents’ Leadership Award; Larry Bassuk and Alexandra Lehson will receive the Sandra C. Goldstein Young Leadership Award, and Ilene Kossman will receive the Robert Russell Fellowship Award. Click here to RSVP.

Are YOU going?! Nearly 550 members of your Jewish community have already registered for Federation’s upcoming Israel at 70 Mission, April 16-22, 2018. We’ll celebrate Israel’s 70th birthday with five big events. Chaired by Barbara Black Goldfarb, participants will spend Yom Ha’Zikaron (Memorial Day) and Yom Ha’Aztmaut (Independence Day) in the homeland. The trip includes time in Tel Aviv and Jerusalem with individual bus tours and plenty of exciting and enlightening excursions. To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the reunification of Jerusalem, the Israel Action Network (IAN), is co-sponsoring an educational project. Through an interactive timeline of archival footage and newspaper headlines, you will be transported back to the summer of 1967, which transformed the State of Israel. IAN is a strategic initiative of The Jewish Federations of North America, in partnership with the Jewish Council for Public Affairs, created to educate, organize and mobilize the organized North American Jewish community to develop strategic approaches to protect the State of Israel. Tune in weekly to follow the story as it unfolds here.

The summer camp countdown has begun! While local campers look forward to their days at one of our three Jewish community centers’ camps, more than 1,000 young Jews from all over the world are eager to arrive at Camp Tsarvas. Located in rural Hungary, the program merges the fun of sleepaway camp with a celebration of Jewish traditions. Support from Federation and our overseas partner, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, helps Tsarvas campers connect with their Jewish identity, and for many, serves as their first encounter with their Jewish heritage.
