Students becoming a Bar or Bat Mitzvah before October 2022 have the unique and memorable opportunity to share their occasion with a Holocaust Survivor. |
Through the Young Lion of Judah program, a meaningful volunteer project offered by the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Jewish Volunteer Center (JVC) and the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, pre-teens will be matched with Holocaust Survivors to develop a relationship and learn to tell their story. Young Lions will also attend programs on Holocaust education and serve their Jewish community through a special mitzvah project. As the Survivor population ages, it is more important than ever to memorialize their stories and encourage the next generation of Jewish leaders to continue educating others about the Shoah. The program begins on Sunday, October 24. For an application or more information on how to become a Young Lion of Judah, please contact JVC Director Lori Tabachnikoff at [email protected] or 786.866.8680. | | |

Applications are now open for Miami's Leo Martin March of the Living (MOTL) program. |
While the evolving public health guidelines may affect certain aspects of the program including the possibility of travel, the impactful six-month educational experience may still include a journey to Poland and Israel to visit important sites of Jewish life and history. The program provides teens a powerful education about the 6 million Jews murdered during the Shoah and a deep learning about Israel. MOTL is a program of the Center for the Advancement of Jewish Education (CAJE), a Federation subsidiary agency. All participants are required to be vaccinated. Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) joined the Consul General of Israel in Miami and other members of the Jewish community for the Miami Beach Pride Parade celebrating diversity and inclusion. |
Individuals waved Israeli and Pride flags demonstrating solidarity with the LGBTQ community. “Participating with friends and colleagues in the Pride Parade represented the strengthening of an important and meaningful commitment for JCRC and for me personally,” said Mojdeh Khaghan Danial, Chair of the JCRC. “Our presence was warmly welcomed and noted by countless people. They saw our message of Love is Love and how much the Jewish community cares about equality. We will continue to stand up against discrimination and work to create a more just, caring, inclusive world.” To learn more about JCRC’s advocacy efforts and community-building work, please email [email protected]. |

With the help of your donation to the Greater Miami Jewish Federation Annual/UJA Campaign, young adult volunteers are practicing tikkun olam (repairing the world) in Winniba, Ghana. |
Through Project Ten, an initiative of Federation overseas partner The Jewish Agency for Israel, volunteers from Israel and around the world are helping African children develop real-world skills. Their work in eight different schools includes an educational center and a learning farm, where the young adults integrate Jewish traditions to teach their students about the meaning of holidays such as Sukkot. Project Ten is focused on bringing together Jewish young adults to create sustainable change in vulnerable communities. In addition to Ghana, Project TEN also operates in Mexico, South Africa, Uganda, Greece and Israel. To support Federation and our overseas partners, click here to make a donation. |
