Don’t miss The Maccabeats, live at The Main Event, Wednesday, February 17. The a capella sensation, whose video celebrating Martin Luther King, Jr. was shared across social media earlier this week, will perform a number of their most popular songs during this special community gathering. Chaired by Diane and Alan Lieberman, the event also will include presentation of Federation’s 2016 Friend of Israel Humanitarian Award to long-time leader George Feldenkreis (pictured at left), and a keynote presentation by Ambassador Ron Prosor, Israel’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations from 2011 to 2015. Jewish overnight camp scholarships are available for children between the ages of 8 and 17. Recognizing that Jewish overnight camp is a significant tool for Jewish engagement, Federation has allocated more than $1.3 million since 2002 to help Miami-Dade families afford to send their kids on these experiences. Click here to apply. Deadline is Sunday, January 31.

While we’re enjoying cooler weather in South Florida, Federation is taking care of frail seniors in the former Soviet Union who must endure much harsher temperatures. Through our overseas partner agency, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), Federation is providing much-needed heating supplies, food and other necessities to those who are elderly, disabled and otherwise alone.
