In Moldova, Federation is connecting lonely and isolated seniors with their loved ones online. Through our partner, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), 67-year-old Daniel Greenberg (left) has learned how to video-chat with family and friends thousands of miles away. Young volunteers at JDC’s Hesed social welfare center are working with Daniel and other elderly Moldovans to help them increase their access to technology – and improve their quality of life.

The deadline is quickly approaching to apply for Onward Israel. The highly subsidized program, supported by Federation and The Jewish Agency for Israel, invites Jewish students attending Miami-area universities to live in Tel Aviv for eight weeks and enjoy a professional internship in a field of their choice. Click here for details and apply today. Space is limited!

Did you know Miami has a partnership city in Israel? Since 2007, Miami’s Jewish community has maintained a close relationship with the people of Yerucham, a city in Israel’s Negev desert region. Residents share resources and engage in educational, social, spiritual and cultural initiatives that enhance lives, develop leaders and build stronger connections to Israel and the Jewish people. Stanley Weinstein chairs the initiative, which is part of Federation’s Israel and Overseas Department. Read more.

Miami’s Jewish community is here to help 24 hours a day. If you or someone you know is in need of emergency financial assistance, food, bereavement support, counseling, domestic abuse assistance or aid with other challenges, call 305.576.6550. Operated by Federation’s partner agency, Jewish Community Services of South Florida, this confidential helpline can guide you to the services and information you need.
