Recognizing Haitian Heritage Month With Local Partners

In honor of May’s Jewish American Heritage Month and Haitian Heritage Month, Federation’s Jewish Community Relations Council (JCRC) came together with our Haitian partners during Miami’s 10 Days of Connection. Members of JCRC, the Sant La Neighborhood Center and Ayiti Community Trust, along with Jewish Community Services of South Florida, gathered more than 65 local leaders at the Little Haiti Cultural Center for dinner and facilitated conversation. Robust discussions took place at each table, where the two communities were mixed into small groups. Several attendees expressed a desire for future activities together; and JCRC members in attendance shared that they made plans with tablemates for Shabbat dinners, further extending Jewish-Haitian engagement.
