Jill Nexon Berman, Esq.

Jill Nexon Berman has been practicing law in Miami since 1978. She specializes in commercial litigation, particularly real-estate related matters (title disputes, construction defects, etc.). She is also a certified civil and family mediator. Jill is a partner at Rennert Vogel Mandler & Rodriguez. In the past few years, she has become more involved in Federation. She sits on the Women's Impact Initiative Committee, which makes small grants to women-focused programs. She recently endowed her Lion of Judah by purchasing a life insurance policy for Federation, and takes advantage of Federation's Donor Advised Funds for her charitable contributions.


Howard Lucas, CPA

Howard Lucas has over 40 years of experience in serving high net worth individuals, corporation, and partnerships in meeting their tax, accounting and estate planning needs. Howard received his designation from the American Institute of CPAs as accredited in Business Valuations in 1997. Howard is an experienced advisor to privately owned businesses and their owners and families, bringing advice and strategies to enhance profitability, tax savings, and meeting their financial and estate planning goals.

Howard is deeply involved in the community and has held leadership positions for a multitude of local organizations. He was named 2010 Business Leader of the Year by the South Florida Business Journal and is a recipient of the President’s Award for Service by the National Kidney Foundation of Florida.

Barry A. Nelson, Esq.

Barry A. Nelson, Esq. is a Florida Bar Board-certified tax, wills, trusts and estates attorney at the law firm of Nelson & Nelson, P.A. in Miami Beach, and is the former Mayor of Golden Beach. He provides counsel to individuals and families on issues relating to income, estate and gift tax planning, and assists physicians and business owners in tax, estate and asset protection planning. Nelson is a Fellow of American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC), acting as Chairman of its Asset Protection Committee. He has served as an adjunct professor in the University of Miami Law School’s Taxation program and the Graduate Department of Accounting.

As a father of a child with autism, Nelson utilizes his legal knowledge to advocate and prepare trusts for those with special needs, and is the Co-Founder of the Victory Center for Autism and Behavioral Challenges. Nelson received a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton and graduated from University of Miami School of Law.

Steven Woolf, Esq.

Steven Woolf is the Senior Tax Policy Counsel for The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA), and is a tax professional with extensive experience in individual and corporate tax, lobbying and knowledge management. He is JFNA’s chief Washington advocate on legislative proposals, administrative regulations and public policy issues regarding non-profit tax issues. He works with JFNA’s Endowments and Planned Giving Department, and, collaborating with professional and lay leaders, Woolf creates and compiles non-profit tax policy proposals and recommendations on behalf of the Federation system.
