Download "The Healing Song"

An original healing song and prayer produced by Mishkan Miami to play for those who are ill.
Musical Score: Amiel Moskona; Lyrics: Rabbi Marc-Phillippe DeRoca

“Heal my body and my soul, bring me peace and make me whole.”

Our song embodies the idea that when we experience crisis in our lives, we can feel broken, as our sense of self has been compromised. We seek to fix, to heal that place of brokenness. On a physical level we may seek medical attention or emotional support, but what about our souls? Jewish healing supports the existential human quest for sheleimut, or wholeness, within one’s self, one’s community, and ultimately with one’s God or sense of the transcendent. While the crisis often brings all of these needs to consciousness, each creature yearns for this wholeness and integration every day. When we achieve this, we experience Shalom, which the Talmud tells us is not only the word for greetings and for peace, but also one of the names of God.
