‘The Tribe’ Screened at Women’s Department Event
The Women’s Department opening event — a screening of the
short film “The Tribe” — September 23 at the Lincoln Theatre in
South Beach was a resounding success, attracting more than 500
women. “The Tribe” weaves together archival footage, graphics,
animation, Barbie dioramas and slam poetry to take audiences
on an electric ride through the complex history of both the
Barbie doll and the Jewish people — from Biblical times to
present day.

Foundation’s PAC to Present Fall Seminar October 29
The Professional Advisory Committee of The Foundation of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation will host its Fall Seminar on Wednesday, October 29. Guest speaker will be noted attorney Gideon Rothschild, who will discuss Asset Protection.

The Network held its annual installation brunch on September 21, where 37 new board members were named officers in the young leadership division of Jewish Federation. Matthew L. Adler and Amy Wildstein are the new Co-Chairs of The Network.

New Federation Program Kicks Off with Storytelling and Jewish New Year Crafts
Families visited the Miami Children’s Museum on Sept. 21 for a special Rosh Hashanah event that kicked off The PJ Library, a new Federation program that aims to help families teach their children the values and traditions of Judaism through books.

New Slate of Rabbis Will Lead Association in New Year
Rabbi Ralph Kingsley, Rabbi Emeritus of Temple Sinai in North Dade, has been installed of the Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami, which has a membership of more than 60 Conservative, Orthodox, Reconstructionist and Reform rabbis.

Campaign Kickoff Event Presents ‘Game Plan’
The Greater Miami Jewish Federation kicked off the 2009 Annual Campaign with a pep rally for its most valuable players. More than 100 of Federation’s volunteer fundraisers attended the event. Guest speaker was sports news commentator Mike Leiderman.

Federation Collecting Donations to Help Victims of Hurricane Ike in Texas
As part of a national Jewish response to the devastating hurricane in Texas, Federation is collecting funds to provide immediate support and relief to hurricane victims and their families. 100% of these funds will be distributed to help those affected.

Federation Collecting Funds for Hurricane Victims in Cuba, Haiti
Greater Miami Jewish Federation and its overseas partner, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, have joined an international humanitarian effort to provide funds for aid to communities in Cuba and Haiti affected by Hurricanes Gustav and Ike.

Jews of Georgia in Dire Need of Assistance
The Greater Miami Jewish Federation continues its effort to collect donations for nonsectarian aid to help refugees and other victims of the crisis in Georgia, which has been engulfed in a military conflict with Russia since August 7.
