Teen Volunteers Hold Successful Phonathon

Forty teen volunteers — all Madatzim Counselors- in-Training at the Michael-Ann Russell Jewish Community Center in North Miami Beach — make calls to raise funds for the 2010 Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign. During two phonathons in early July, the teens raised $1,600 to help Jewish people in need in Miami, in Israel and 64 other countries around the world.

Thirty-eight singles and couples from Miami joined more than 200 peers from across the U.S. for the National Young Leadership Summer Mission to Israel.


Federation’s Real Estate Division and The Real Estate Network will host Sunset Over Miami, Thursday, August 19 at the Wells Fargo Center in Miami, where professionals in real estate, construction and allied fields will mingle with industry peers.


The Rabbinical Association of Greater Miami (RAGM) has elected Rabbi Mark Kram, spiritual leader of Temple Beth Or, as its 2010–2011 President, as well as a full slate of Officers for the coming year.


Since its launch in Spring 2010, ParnossahWorks — an online job service and initiative of F•E•G•S Health and Human Services System — has posted more than 100 jobs online, and more new job seekers sign up on the website every day.


Jews around the world join the people of Israel in expressing support for abducted IDF soldier Gilad Shalit, captured during a Hamas attack June 25, 2006. Shalit has been denied visits by any humanitarian group since then, including the Red Cross.


For more than 25 years, Federation’s Chair of the Board and General Campaign Chair have hosted a year-end Thank You Luncheon for the staff, including presentation of staff awards. Recipients on June 7 were Dahlia Bendavid and Soiby Seidner.


Hundreds gathered on June 10 to hear the latest news about Israel, following the recent Gaza flotilla incident and attempts by numerous groups to transport supplies into the Hamas-controlled region and better understand how they can advocate for Israel.


In light of Israel’s action against the flotilla bound for the Gaza Strip, it is critical for the Jewish community and others to be exposed to accurate and objective coverage of this incident in order to advocate on behalf of the State of Israel.


Federation has launched “What’s Your #ish?,” an integrated online campaign that encourages young Jews to share what being Jewish means to them — their #ish.


An innovative Jewish leadership and educational program for teens — Kulanu — launches as an international Tri-Center project: the Michael-Ann Russell JCC, North Miami Beach, Hacoaj Community Center, Buenos Aires, and Matnas Yerucham.

A year-round, eight-week intensive study program using an interdisciplinary curriculum designed to thoroughly acquaint students with Israel.
