Israel Initiatives
Women's Amutot Initiative
The Women's Amutot Initiative Program was established in 2003 to focus exclusively on the needs and welfare of women and girls in Israel. Annual grants are allocated to Israeli not-for-profit organizations that provide programs and services for women that deal with economic empowerment, societal empowerment, integration and equality, protection against and prevention of violence and leadership development
Kulanu JCC Tri-center Project
Kulanu is a three-way partnership between the Jewish communities of Miami, Buenos Aires and Yerucham. Organized through each community's JCC, Kulanu is a Jewish leadership and educational program for teens, ages 15-18. Participants serve for two years as madrichim (group leaders) in their respective JCC's youth programs. Kulanu hopes to strengthen Jewish identity among participants through shared experiences, form a multi-cultural group in which participants celebrate their differences, and grow and work together, and encourage madrichim to serve as Jewish role models among their peers and the community at large.
Makom Initiative for local Israel Engagement
Makom is an Israel Engagement Network in partnership with the Jewish Agency for Israel and is coordinated by the Alper JCC and the Greater Miami Jewish Federation. Destination: Israel was founded three years ago as a project in South Dade that looked at their Israel engagement through various lenses. To help achieve this goal, Destination: Israel awards grants to South Dade synagogues for the purpose of enhancing pre-trip planning for travel to Israel.
