Join the Jewish Museum of Florida and Miami Jewish Film Festival on Tuesday, January 8, 2013 at 7 p.m. as Leonard Nimoy narrates this modern story on the history of the Jews of Kaifeng. The last rabbi of Kaifeng died well over a century ago, and today's descendants of the ancient Chinese Jewish community have never celebrated Shabbat. Now two curious families have incited a modern group of Jewish travelers from Australia, China, Israel, and the United States into their homes, leading to a reunion 1,000 years in the making. FIU’s Professor Nathan Katz, one of the world’s leading authorities on Eastern Jewish communities, will lead a discussion on Jews of Kaifeng following the program.
Cost: Jewish Museum of Florida and Miami Jewish Film Society Members free; Non-members: $10 general; Students and seniors (65+) $8.
