David Brooks, Political and Social Analyst

David Brooks, a New York Times Op-Ed columnist and commentator on The NewsHour with Jim Lehrer, analyzes American life and its relationship with politics and foreign affairs.

Brooks has been a senior editor at The Weekly Standard and a contributing editor for Newsweek and the Atlantic Monthly. He has worked for The Wall Street Journal and has reported on Russian, Middle Eastern, South African and European affairs.

A frequent analyst on National Public Radio’s All Things Considered and the Diane Rehm Show, Brooks’ work has appeared in The New Yorker, The New York Times Magazine, Forbes, The Washington Post and The Public Interest, among several other publications.

His most recent book is The Social Animal: The Hidden Sources of Love, Character, and Achievement. Brooks is also the author of Bobos in Paradise: The New Upper Class and How They Got There and On Paradise Drive: How We Live Now (And Always Have) in the Future Tense. He is the editor of the anthology, Backward and Upward: The New Conservative Writing.
