Feeding Her Children First

AS A DIVORCED MOTHER OF TWO WORKING AS A WAITRESS IN A DINER,“Michelle” was able to squeak by — barely — before COVID-19 hit.

Since losing her job due to the coronavirus shutdown, she is desperately budgeting her remaining savings to cover rent and put food on the table.

With no child support, no alimony and no family members that can help, she is totally alone. She prioritizes paying her demanding landlord on a timely basis, but that means she often goes to bed hungry.
