Out of Business, Out of Hope

“JAVIER” HAS A DRY-CLEANING SHOP IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI THAT HAS BEEN FORCED OUT OF BUSINESS BY THE CORONAVIRUS.

For the past six months, most of Javier’s steady clients have worked from home, meaning they had few dry-cleaning needs. His shop’s racks were once lined with clean, hangered clothing covered by clear plastic.

Now those racks and the cash register are both empty. Javier is closing his shop at the end of the month and the livelihood he has known for more than 20 years is gone.
