Responding to Historic Colombia Earthquake
In the aftermath of the powerful 7.4 magnitude earthquake that struck western Colombia early this week, Federation’s global partners are providing emergency relief to those affected. Through support from generous donors to the Greater Miami Jewish Federation's earthquake emergency fund, agencies on the ground are responding to critical needs. These include water, food and other supplies; housing and shelter and psychosocial activities for traumatized children and adults. Our support is facilitating the procurement and distribution of clean drinking water, hygiene supplies and other systems to maintain community health and prevent disease outbreaks in crowded shelters. By establishing child-friendly spaces, safe community hubs and online resources, we are helping Jewish and non-Jewish communities recover from the strongest earthquake to hit Colombia in 100 years.
