Jewish Miami Will Welcome Two New Shinshinim at the End of August
“This past year in Miami has been one of the most meaningful and positive experiences of my life,” noted Tamar upon completion of her year as a shinshin (young emissary from Israel). The shinshinim gap year program, facilitated by Federation partner The Jewish Agency for Israel, brings high school graduates who have deferred their IDF service to act as cultural ambassadors for Israel in Jewish communities worldwide. Tamar, from Moshav Avigdor in the Negev, and fellow shinshin Yuval of Kibbutz Or HaNer — with whom Federation is partnering in its post-October 7 recovery — spent the past year sharing their knowledge of Israel and Judaic tradition through cultural group activities and celebrations. Jewish Miami will welcome two new shinshinim at the end of August. Click here to learn about shinshin hosting opportunities.
