Federation Allocates Next Round of Israel Emergency Fund Grants

As the Israel-Hamas war approaches its eighth month, Federation is continuing to provide financial support to meet a variety of needs on the ground in Israel. Thanks to hundreds of generous donors from our community and beyond, our Israel Emergency Fund (IEF) has raised nearly $30 million. While the majority of donations were earmarked for the national response organized by the Jewish Federations of North America, 15 percent of our local IEF is being distributed by our Israel Emergency Allocations Committee directly to communities we know and love in Israel. In our partnership city of Yerucham, your generous donations have assisted evacuees with housing, nutritional support and emotional and psychological intervention, provided internally displaced schoolchildren with educational material and social activities and offered emergency trauma-support for at-risk youth and their mentors. We're also prioritizing assistance to organizations treating women and girls who have experienced gender-based violence through offering individual and group counseling for survivors of sexual abuse and their families, probono legal consultation and gender-equity advocacy in local and international arenas. With the additional $318,000 that was disbursed, bringing the total Israel Emergency Funds allocated thus far to more than $22.5 million.
