Amigour Elderly Receives Extended Care

Amigour, a longtime Federation partner that provides affordable housing and social services to older Israelis, has extended extra care and services to its residents due to the war. Of the approximately 7,500 clients, many of whom are Holocaust Survivors, 5,000 live in housing developments in the south and other war-impacted regions. Since hostilities began more than one year ago, Amigour staff have been working around the clock to ensure the safety and well-being of their tenants, coordinating supplemental grocery and prescription deliveries, mental health care and frequent well checks. “What gives me strength is the constant support I received at the Amigour residence throughout the war. Staff visited each of us to check in and distribute food donations,” said Irena, who lives in the southern city of Ofakim. Amenities in the housing projects include a broad range of social and cultural services, such as art workshops, exercise classes and concerts, which greatly enhance residents’ quality of life.
