BeWell Miami’s Camper Care Addresses Emotional Well-Being With Staff Mental Health Trainings

This summer, BeWell Miami continues its camp staff mental health trainings at Miami’s three Federation-supported JCCs. Camp counselor trainings focus on equipping staff with the means to better address challenges and support the social and emotional well-being of their campers. “BeWell trainings give our staff practical tools to recognize and respond to the emotional needs of our campers and colleagues,” said Mercedes Ben Moha, Specialist Coordinator and Head of Israel Education at Michael-Ann Russell JCC. “It’s had a meaningful impact on our camp community.” Additionally, Camper Care, launched last year at Alper JCC Miami, has expanded to help all camper groups and CITs process their emotions and build coping strategies to implement at camp and beyond.
