Broward Institution Honors Legacy of Ike Heller, z”l

“Give me a staff filled with Ike Hellers and we’ll change the world,” said Federation President & CEO Emeritus Jacob Solomon at the recent dedication of the Ike Heller Educational Building at Landow Jewish Academy in Fort Lauderdale. Heller, who passed away in 2023, was Federation’s passionate and deeply loved South Dade Director for 30 years. Working closely with hundreds of local leaders (including Danny Zelonker, z”l, and Regina Zelonker, pictured here with him at far right), Heller helped raise millions of dollars to support Jewish needs, led numerous missions to Israel and inspired generations of South Dade residents to do more. Said son Seth Heller, “Education is one of the highest expressions of Jewish values. My father knew this and lived it every day, working to ensure that Jewish people understood who they were and the impact they have on the world.”
