Summer Fun at Camp Szarvas

With the start of summer, many children and teenagers are eagerly anticipating the excitement of camp. For more than 1,500 Jewish campers, that means experiencing Camp Szarvas in rural Hungary. Supported by Federation's overseas partner, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee, (JDC) the camp brings together the fun of sleepaway camp with Jewish communal experiences, like Israeli dancing, Hebrew songs and Jewish traditions. The campers, who come from more than 20 countries in Europe, develop strong connections to their Jewish identity and for many, it serves as their first encounter with their Jewish heritage.
