College Students Experience Israel Through Onward Internships

Twenty-six Miami-area college students are having the experience of a lifetime in Israel right now during their eight-week Birthright Israel Onward internships. So far, the group — mostly from University of Miami and Florida International University — has spent time in Miami’s partnership city of Yerucham, where they participated in a mosaic design workshop, visited the Yerucham Crater and enjoyed a musical Kabbalat Shabbat and Shabbat dinner, followed by a stay at the Desert Iris Hotel. The next day, the students attended services at Afikim BaNegev Synagogue, participated in discussions with their madrichim (guides) and enjoyed a Havdalah ceremony. The students’ journey continues through mid-July as they collaborate with Israeli peers in Tel Aviv tech companies, creative agencies, investment firms and other industries. Birthright Israel Onward is subsidized by the Annual Federation Campaign.
