JDC Eshel Supports Israel’s Older Adults

Federation’s overseas partner the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) had an impactful 2021 helping to care for Israel’s 1.3 million older adults through its Eshel program. Now in its 53rd year, JDC Eshel spearheaded a variety of innovative initiatives to ensure that Israel’s infrastructure can support its residents as they age. Programs included expanding the integrated care model that provides a social worker and nurse to those experiencing social isolation and health issues in 27 locations throughout Israel. JDC Eshel also helped bring geriatric services to six rehabilitation centers, making sure that they provide age-appropriate care. Other initiatives involved teaching digital literacy; supporting 6,423 homebound Holocaust Survivors; developing a nationally adopted dementia training plan; establishing a palliative care leadership training program and more. To support programs that make a difference in Israel, you can make a secure donation to the Annual Greater Miami Jewish Federation/UJA Campaign here.
