Federation is Committed to Supporting Israelis With Disabilities

Nearly 2 million Israelis — about 20 percent of the State’s population — live with a disability. Federation supports nonprofits that assist Israelis of all ages with disabilities beyond the month of February — Jewish Disability Awareness, Acceptance & Inclusion Month (JDAIM). Organizations like Beit Issie Shapiro, Shalva and Akim help those with physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities learn important life skills and improve independence, while providing emotional and physical support for caregivers. In addition to the personalized care and therapies they give individuals and families, many of these agencies partner with governmental and private entities on advocacy, public awareness, technology development, accessibility issues, research and more.
