Federation Funding Program to Prevent Suicide in Israel

Between 2023 and 2025, emergency room visits by children and teens due to suicidality increased by roughly 60 percent. Federation is funding programs like Gila’s Way to prevent more tragedies amid Israel’s national mental health crisis. Recognized by Israel’s National Suicide Prevention Program of the Ministry of Health, Gila’s Way helps individuals confront challenges through lectures and interactive courses. Federation support has enabled the nonprofit to open and maintain suicide-specific mental health clinics across Israel, provide advanced professional training and treatment for suicide prevention and expand consultation support and services for families. Organizations like Gila’s Way are essential, especially for children and teens, who have experienced the damaging one-two punch of COVID-19 and the attacks on October 7, 2023.
