Gilberts Share Israel Solidarity Mission Experience
The Greater Miami Jewish Federation’s founding President, Stanley C. Myers, z”l, was a passionate advocate for Israel, and last week, his grandson and great-grandson demonstrated their support as well, by participating in a Solidarity Mission organized by The Jewish Federations of North America. Robert “Bobby” Gilbert, a long-time Federation Board member and Campaign Chair of Federation’s Attorneys’ Division, brought his 21-year-old son, Evan, on the two-day trip (pictured above).
Bobby wrote to his friends in Miami: “We’ve visited people living Sderot, Ashkelon and Ashdod… people living on the front line of the Gaza conflict… people whose lives have been interrupted many times each day by air raid sirens… who’ve slept with their children in safe rooms and bomb shelters for the past month. We also visited wounded members of the IDF. Everywhere we go, everyone we’ve visited has expressed the same sentiment. They all say, ‘Thank you, thank you, thank you, for coming to Israel during this very difficult time and for showing us that you care.’”
