Federation Grants Support Nutritional Programs for Vulnerable Israelis

New grants totaling $115,000 were recently approved by Federation’s Israel & Overseas Committee for five Israeli nonprofits that provide nutritious food and essential assistance to vulnerable people of all ages. Working with our Israeli partners, Federation is addressing food insecurity across the country. Two nonprofits rescue food surpluses from farms, retailers, manufacturers and others to distribute to people facing hunger, while others are delivering daily hot meals and weekly food parcels to Holocaust survivors and older adults. Some of the programs focus on special populations, like Ethiopian Israeli elementary school students, or geographic regions, like Israel’s north or Yerucham and the surrounding Negev region. Federation's work also helps individuals access government benefits and social services.
