Israel Emergency Fund Helping Israelis in Need

As the conflict between Israel and Hamas continues, you can help to provide vital humanitarian and relief services for Israelis affected by the onslaught of rockets from Gaza – through a donation to the Israel Emergency Fund.

While the Annual Federation/UJA Campaign supports a vast network of vital programs and services that help vulnerable Israelis year-round, when Hamas rocket fire intensified in early July, The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) committed immediate additional funding to provide for anticipated increased needs. In support of this commitment, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation reopened the Israel Emergency Fund – a fundraising effort deployed during previous crises in Israel.

“We were able to respond at a moment’s notice because our Federation system was here the day before the escalation in violence,” said Amy N. Dean, Federation General Campaign Chair.

One hundred percent of all funds raised are being used to help provide for the needs of thousands of Israelis affected by the crisis.  Services include:

  • Food, medicine and care for frail seniors, people with disabilities and other vulnerable Israelis unable to leave their homes
  • Activities and supplies for families in bomb shelters
  • One-day respite trips and extended camp experiences to take children and families out of harm’s way
  • Individual counseling and therapeutic workshops to help victims of terror and trauma
  • Immediate financial assistance for those who have been injured or whose homes have been damaged or destroyed

Through JFNA, the Federation system will continue to assess the fluid situation and provide care and aid where it is needed.

“While we are all praying for a swift end to this crisis, it is critical that our community, through the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, works collectively to provide comfort and humanitarian assistance during this most difficult time – and sends a clear, unmistakable message that we stand in complete solidarity with the people of Israel now and always,” said Robert G. Berrin, Federation Chair of the Board.
