Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach Honors Local Survivors
As a meaningful way to celebrate Holocaust Survivor Day, the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach recently held a special luncheon honoring our community's survivors. More than a dozen survivors volunteer at the Memorial throughout the year, sharing their personal stories with tens of thousands of visitors of all ages. During the luncheon, survivors, docents and staff shared meaningful reflections, Shabbat blessings and many heartfelt l’chaims. Restaurant owner Shlomi Ezra revealed how the survivors’ resilience inspired him and asked those gathered to pray for his daughter who has been in a coma for two years. In response, 101-year-old survivor Jack Waksal offered a blessing, and in that moment, generations of survival, faith and humanity came together around one prayer. The Holocaust Memorial is a Committee of Federation.
