Being Jewish Abroad

Hungarian Jews are reinforcing their Jewish heritage and traditions, thanks to your support of the Annual Federation/ UJA Campaign. Through our overseas partner, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC), the JCC Budapest, called the Balint House, has connected with nearly 30,000 Jews through educational and cultural events, holiday celebrations and senior programming. It’s estimated that 138,000 Hungarians have at least one Jewish parent and another 60,000 have a Jewish grandparent, making it the largest Jewish community in central Eastern Europe.
