IDF Soldiers Enhance Local Commemorations for Israel’s Memorial and Independence Days

Last week’s Jewish Miami commemorations of Israel’s Memorial and Independence Days were enhanced by visits from two IDF soldiers with Shlichim B’Madim (Emissaries in Uniform). The duo spoke at all three Federation-supported Miami JCCs and at synagogues throughout the county, met with bereaved families and attended a ceremony at the Israeli Consulate. One of them was wounded in combat in the recent war, while the other served in the medical corps. Together, they led educational programs and shared their firsthand experiences, including that of military life and the impact of October 7. Shlichim B’Madim works to strengthen the connection between Israel and world Jewry. With the alarming spike in global antisemitism, their presence at this year’s Yom Ha'Zikaron and Yom Ha’Atzmaut observances held special significance.
