Federation Helps IDF Widows and Children Receive Psychiatric Care

Your donations to Federation are enabling spouses and children of fallen IDF soldiers to receive essential psychiatric care. While Israel’s Ministry of Defense provides limited psychological support, there is no state coverage for the psychiatric needs of military families. Federation partner IDF Widows & Orphans Organization (IDFWO) is filling the gap, offering a short course of professional psychiatric diagnosis, medication and follow-up, which can change the trajectory of a widow’s and child’s recovery, helping them transition from trauma to post-traumatic growth. Since the October 7 terrorist attacks, 320 new widows and 730 children are now facing a new reality. “IDF Widows and Orphans is a place I can turn for everything,” said one member. “It strengthens you,” said another. “It makes you feel you are not alone.”
