Improving Public Access for Older Israelis
Federation is enhancing public spaces to meet the needs of Israel’s growing population of older adults who may be facing functional limitations, loneliness and a lack of socialization. A recent example can be seen in Be’er Sheva, where an existing public space was transformed to encourage seniors to get out of their homes, connect with others, enjoy cultural and leisure activities and feel more connected to their community. This project is part of Muni100 — a joint initiative between Federation partners, the Israeli government and local municipalities. By improving physical, social and economic accessibility, Federation is helping increase the presence of older adults in public places and improving life for all Israelis.
