Indian Jews Make Aliyah

With the help of Federation’s overseas partner, The Jewish Agency for Israel, more than 100 Jews from India’s B’nei Menashe community recently made aliyah. The olim, (immigrants) will reside in Nazareth Illit and participate in the many absorption programs offered by The Jewish Agency. Another Federation overseas agency, the American Jewish Joint Distribution Committee (JDC) also supports the Jewish community in India by funding day care, young leadership and family programming offered at Mumbai's Evelyn Peters Jewish Community Center along with a Meals on Wheels program through the Bayiti Home for the Aged.
