International Media Visits Jewish Miami to Build Bridges
As countries around the world continue to be openly hostile to Israel and the Jewish people, an international delegation of journalists visited some of Miami's Jewish institutions with the goal of increasing understanding of the Jewish community. Handpicked by the US State Department, the 20 reporters — many from countries experiencing dramatic increases in antisemitism, including Spain, South Africa, Ireland and the UK — participated in an impactful two-day tour organized by the State Department and facilitated by the Greater Miami Jewish Federation, our Jewish Community Relations Council and Office of Community Security, in partnership with the Secure Community Network. Following a stop in Washington, DC, their visit took place on October 7, which marked three years since the Hamas terrorist attacks in Israel. The journalists spent time meeting with survivors of the Nova Music Festival and the Holocaust. In addition to exploring the new Education Center at the Holocaust Memorial Miami Beach, the group toured the new Regional Threat Center and heard a presentation by the Miami Beach Police Department.
