Mitzvah Miami Offers Kids and Teens Community Service, Volunteer Opportunities
As a new school year begins, the Jewish Volunteer Center of the Greater Miami Jewish Federation wants kids and teens to know about Mitzvah Miami, a group of volunteer and community service projects just for the younger generation.
Starting right before a student's Bar or Bat Mitzvah all the way through high school graduation, Mitzvah Miami offers up special service opportunities that spread the Jewish value of tikkun olam, or making the world a better place, throughout Miami.

Through Mitzvah Miami, young volunteers can participate in beach cleanups, community garden revitalization, school beautification projects, and recycling initiatives, as well as volunteer at hospitals, nursing homes, synagogues or JCC's. Students can also become a volunteer journalist, documenting the happenings and goings-on in their school, synagogue or youth group.
There are dozens of other volunteer projects and community service opportunities as part of Mitzvah Miami that can be found online at JewishMiami.org/volunteer or by contacting the Jewish Volunteer Center at [email protected] or 786.866.8680. Anyone who has a unique idea for a service project is also welcome to participate in Mitzvah Miami.
