Jewish Agency Shlichim Inspiring Jewish Campers

Federation overseas partner The Jewish Agency for Israel has deployed 1,600 young Israelis as shlichim (emissaries) to 170 Jewish summer camps — including Camp Sol Taplin at Michael-Ann Russell JCC and and Camp Klurman at Miami Beach JCC. Each year, these energetic and passionate shlichim participate in camp life, sharing Jewish traditions, teaching Israeli and Jewish culture and serving as role models for campers and staff. Pictured above, Itamar, from Nes Tziona, and Shira, from Miami’s partnership community of Yerucham, are bonding with campers at Michael-Ann Russell JCC, while Eliya Roth, from Irus, is spending her summer with the kids attending Miami Beach JCC's Camp Klurman. Both JCCs are Federation partners and funded in part through the Annual Federation/UJA Campaign. As the Israel-Hamas war continues, many shlichim will undoubtedly share personal stories of how they and their communities were impacted by October 7, making the encounters even more meaningful.
