Nominate an Extraordinary Individual for the “Jewish Community Heroes” Campaign

For the third consecutive year, the Greater Miami Jewish Federation is joining with The Jewish Federations of North America (JFNA) and Jewish communities from across the United States and Canada to recognize people who make tikkun olam (repairing the world) a guiding value of their everyday lives.

The Jewish Community Heroes campaign, created by JFNA, is part of a broad effort to promote public service. Last year, over 300,000 votes were cast to help select the Jewish Community Hero of the Year, Jay Feinberg of the Gift of Life Bone Marrow Foundation.

To determine the 20 semifinalists, voting will take place September 7-November 10 on JewishCommunityHeroes.org. The semifinalists will be the top 10 who receive the most votes in each category of nominees - volunteers and community service professionals.

This year’s judges include actress Mayim Bialik; Executive Director of Bikkurim Nina Bruder; Founder and Executive Director of Action Without Borders Ami Dar; Editor of The Forward Jane Eisner; author Karen Katz and Olympic gold medalist swimmer Lenny Krayzelburg. The judges will select the Jewish Community Hero of the Year and four other national honorees from among the semifinalists to receive $25,000 hero grants that will be used for furthering their community project.
