JVC Helps Local Students Prepare for the Start of School

With summer break quickly coming to an end, Federation’s Jewish Volunteer Center (JVC) is ensuring children of low income families are prepared to start the new school year. Last week, JVC visited the Everglades Recreation Center with a group of volunteers to spend time with the children and help fill their backpacks. Thanks to the generosity of Federation donors and community partners, each child received a personalized pencil box, a brand-new backpack filled with school supplies, a new pair of Nike sneakers and a gift card to Walmart — everything they need to start the school year with confidence. Federation is proud to work with En Familia and Young Dreams Community Outreach to help identify the community’s needs and fill this gap.
